FAQs

  • A medical tattoo usually heals in two to four weeks, although this may vary dependent upon other factors, such as age, and skin types.

Patients must follow the post-tattoo care instructions during recovery.

  • After getting your medical tattoo, we recommend leaving on the breathable bandage.

Excess ink and a clear liquid may be seen oozing from the tattoo, but both are entirely normal. Itching, warmth, and slight redness of the skin are also possible.

We recommend to gently wash the tattoo with antimicrobial soap, and apply a water-based ointment.

  • The tattoo should feel less tender and red after the first few days. As time passes, a camouflage tattoo’s color will change colors. This is normal and indicates that the tattoo is healing.

We recommend not to pick or scratch at the scar during the healing process as Scarring may occur. Itching of the skin is another common symptom at this point.

You may notice some peeling around the tattoo, which is part of the healing process because it enables the skin to shed damaged cells. This can occur a few days after receiving a tattoo, as the skin exfoliates and produces new cells.

We recommend washing the tattooed area with an antimicrobial soap and moisturizing 1-2 times daily.

  • Within this timeframe, most if not all of the scabs and peeling skin should have disappeared.

If the skin feels dry, we recommend you continue to moisturize it and apply ointment.

The outer layers of the skin regenerate the fastest. Deeper skin layers may take several months to heal.

During the third week if the tattoo is no longer an open wound, we recommend a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 should be applied. Apply it at least 15 minutes before heading outdoors, and reapply it every couple of hours.

  • Infections can be caused by lack of proper tattoo hygiene, which can significantly slow healing and even cause serious health problems.

Allergic reactions to tattoo ink are typically most common during the first few days and weeks. This is due to the red, blue, and green tattoo inks, which carry a greater chance of causing an allergic reaction. Although allergic reactions to tattoos are extremely rare.

The presence of pain and swelling, however, may be an indication of inflammation and infection in the tattoo. Anyone experiencing this should seek medical attention right away.
